Education is not a way to escape poverty - It is a way of fighting. Julius Nyerere
Mahatma Gandhi said “You must be the change you want to see in the world”. And Kennedy said “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”.
Education is the backbone of development - be it economic, personal development or hygienic & health awareness. It remains a sad reality even today that many students from rural areas in India are unable to attend school mainly due to poverty. The infra-structure in many of these elementary schools lack basic amenities like a school building, blackboards, desks & benches etc in addition to hygienic drinking water and lavatory facilities.
We have always been keen on education and we founded the Tummala Trust in 2006 with the goal of helping students from dropping out of elementary schools in rural areas because of lack of funds.
In the first phase we would like to provide basic infrastructure to the schools in Vatluru and Sitaramapuram in West Godavari district. Later we plan to expand to other elementary schools in the district.
In Vatluru panchayat few primary school are running in open sheds without any secured building. Many times our school students are sitting under a tree on sand and learning lessons. Drinking water and lavatory facilites are also not available in school.
In the first phase we would like to provide basic infrastructure in two schools (Vatluru and SitaRamaPuram) in West Godavari district. Later we will expand to other elementary schools in the district. Teachers may not be able to attend SitaRamaPuram school during rainy season since there is no proper road to village.
Main goal of this trust is that none of the student from these two villages should drop from studies because lack of funds. |
